Retired Members

UTFA welcomes retirees to continue or to become regular members of the Association. More information can be found in the Constitution and the By-Laws.

UTFA is a vocal advocate of maintaining and improving retirees’ pensions and benefits. UTFA is a member of College and University Retiree Associations of Canada (CURAC) and the Association of Retired Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE).

UTFA ensures that retired members are represented on our main decision-making body, the UTFA Council, and on the Executive Committee. Retirees are entitled to four representatives on the Council, chosen only by retired members. Check out the UTFA Council for the most recent list of your representatives. The Chair of the Retired Members Committee is a member of the Executive Committee.

Membership Renewal for Retired Members

March 27, 2026

Dear UTFA Colleague,

We encourage you to continue your membership in UTFA. For the small fee of $50, you will help UTFA continue its work on behalf of all our members, including those who are retired. For added convenience, you can renew your membership for two years for $100. Our fees have not increased for several years.

There are many reasons to maintain your membership in UTFA. To name one of the most important ones: UTFA fights to protect equal access to health benefits and benefits improvements for retired and active members—a fundamental principle UTFA’s negotiating team successfully defended when bargaining with the Administration in the 2020–2023 round. See here to learn more about the specific benefits improvements UTFA’s team recently won for all members. The value of these benefits improvements alone exceeds the cost of membership.

There are many reasons to maintain your membership with UTFA. To name a few of the most important ones:

  • To support UTFA’s continued fight for equal access to health benefits and benefit improvements for retired and active members;
  • You would help inform UTFA’s negotiating priorities for retirees, such as the recent Agreement regarding Microsoft Office for Retiring Faculty Members and Librarians;
  • You retain an important voice in UTFA by voting to elect the four retired members on the UTFA Council for Constituency #901; and
  • You can be a member of the Retired Members Committee dedicated to advocating for retirees’ interests; and
  • You can serve on any UTFA Standing Committee; and
  • As mentioned earlier you retain eligibility to vote in the Presidential election, to attend the AGM on April 23rd, and to attend the Retired Members Annual Reception.

We encourage you to renew your membership by completing the following Google Form as soon as possible.

Update your information and pay your dues by credit card online.

Please don't hesitate to contact UTFA at faculty@utfa.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

UTFA
