Fair Employment Now! is CAUT’s national campaign to secure fair, stable and equitable working conditions for contract academic staff (CAS). The campaign calls on CAS, regular academic staff, students, and other campus workers to stand together, organize locally, and connect the workplace issues facing CAS to the broader fight for fairness and high-quality public education. Members are encouraged to review the Fair Employment Now! Campaign Guide and begin planning actions to advance fair employment at their institutions.
Fair Employment Week
Fair Employment Week is a key opportunity for CAUT member associations to build momentum, increase visibility and mobilize support for CAS. Throughout the week, associations are encouraged to organize local events, engage members, highlight the essential contributions of CAS and draw public attention to the barriers they face. CAUT will support this work by coordinating national activities, including a social media day of action.
This year, Fair Employment Week will take place from October 19 to 23, 2026.
Social Media Day of Action
CAUT’s Fair Employment Week Social Media Day of Action will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Member associations are asked to participate by posting campaign messages, sharing local stories and amplifying the voices of contract academic staff. CAUT will provide customizable graphics to help associations promote the campaign and reach members, students and campus communities through their own channels.
