The Jackman Humanities Institute is pleased to present:
Humanities in the 21st Century: The Research University in the World

A Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Jackman Gifts founding the Jackman Humanities Institute

Humanities education and research both addresses the future of culture and our world and helps to create that future. The Jackman Humanities Institute (JHI) was founded to bolster the long traditions of excellence in humanities research and also to help support new directions and methods of humanities research. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, we are hosting a conference to bring together international thinkers, University of Toronto faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students to discuss and debate the role of the humanities in our world.  Questions that will orient the conference include:

  • What is the future of humanities research?
  • What is the goal of humanities undergraduate education?
  • What can the world expect of our work in the university?
