Tune into tonight’s CBC Marketplace at 8 p.m. The program features the work of UTFA Central Health and Safety Committee representative, James Scott, and the results of rigorous National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-based testing of mask types. Test results indicate that “while some [masks] work very well, others offer little protection from the particles that transmit the novel coronavirus.”
Professor James Scott is a specialist in bioaerosols and runs the labs where the Marketplace tests were conducted. He is also the Division Head, Occupational & Environmental Health, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, cross-appointed to the Dept. of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, at the U of T Faculty of Medicine.
