Dear UTFA Colleagues:

Please see the message below from David Robinson, Executive Director, Canadian Association of University Teachers.

The college workers unit of the Ontario Public Sector Employees Union (OPSEU) is preparing for a province-wide strike beginning tomorrow if a deal cannot be reached.

Ontario's public colleges are the backbone of the province's economy. They train workers, fill skills gaps, and support key sectors like health care, manufacturing, and hospitality. They reduce poverty, create employment, and strengthen local communities.

Instead of properly funding the college system so that it can fulfill these missions, however, the Ford government has manufactured a crisis by defunding public colleges on a per student basis and handing millions to private for-profit training companies.

OPSEU is asking for your solidarity. Please consider adopting a local college and joining the picket lines tomorrow. You can find more information and sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfj1Bn-0b3N8ro-xihTimsdkWE6nwL-LxyMyKpEmd3iiRZiLA/viewform

You are also encouraged to send a message to your local MPP by visiting this link: https://opseu.org/saveourcolleges/

Please share your support on social media and help Ontario's college workers to get a fair deal.

Please encourage your members to respect the OPSEU picket lines.
