Dear Colleagues,

This year is a presidential election year for the University of Toronto Faculty Association. I have been appointed by UTFA Council as the Chief Returning Officer for this election.

The nomination period opens on Sunday, March 1, 2020, and closes on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. If more than one candidate is nominated, the election will take place between March 16 and April 6, 2020. We will use an online voting system provided by an external firm called Simply Voting. Paper ballots will also be available.

UTFA has created a Presidential Election web page, for which a link is available on the UTFA home page.

All members of UTFA in good standing are eligible to vote, and any member may be nominated for the position of President. Candidates must be nominated by either two members of UTFA Council or ten UTFA members who do not serve on UTFA Council. Nomination forms will be available by late February on the UTFA Presidential Election page.

UTFA Council recently passed guidelines for the 2020 UTFA Presidential election. They may be found on the Presidential Election page, in addition to links to UTFA’s Constitution and Bylaws, which outline the duties of the president.

If you have questions about the election or the nomination process, please write to me at chiefreturningofficer@utfa.org.

Sincerely,
Louis Florence
Chief Returning Officer
