This will be an opportunity for UTFA members to hear and ask questions about prospects for a new multi-employer Jointly Sponsored Pension Plan for Universities in Ontario. UTFA representatives (as well as representatives from the University administration) have been monitoring developments in this area and participating in preliminary discussions concerning the design and implementation of such a plan.

In order to encourage members to become involved in this discussion, we have posted some current resources that provide information useful to understanding the benefits, risks, and opportunities of conversion to a Jointly Sponsored Pension Plan on the pensions page of UTFA’s website.

Much of this material, and some of the summaries, are taken from OCUFA’s Pension Review website, which contains additional resources and information on the issue. Please take a look at some of this material and consider attending the town hall on the 30th. One way or another, we have to be ready to make important decisions about the future of our pension plan. This is your opportunity to inform yourself and share your opinion.

Please RSVP to Chris Penn at faculty@utfa.org or 416-978-4976. Finally, if a large number of members indicate interest but are unable to make this time, do let us know and we will consider holding another meeting at an alternate time and place
