Dear Teaching Stream faculty colleagues,
It was wonderful to see many of you at our June 19th workshop on preparing for the Promotion and Continuing Status Review in the Teaching Stream!
Please see the session slides from Professor Karen McCrindle, Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning and Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning, University of Toronto Scarborough and her document related to the preparation of teaching dossiers, and the slides presented by Danielle Sandhu, Lawyer, Goldblatt Partners, on UofT policies pertaining to the review and promotion for full-time continuing Teaching Stream appointments.
One of the key points raised during the presentation was the importance of obtaining your divisional guidelines for review and promotions for Teaching Stream faculty. These should provide instructions on any expectations for the contents and format of your documents that are specific to your division and may go beyond the more general university-wide guidelines for all Teaching Stream faculty, however, these guidelines should be consistent with the Provostial Guidelines.
For part-time and contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) Teaching Stream faculty who attended the session and did not participate in our earlier workshop on June 5th, which covered part-time policies and procedures and issues related to CLTA contracts, please refer to the slides from that session.
Lastly, we encourage you to take advantage of feedback offered through the following campus centres as you prepare your teaching portfolio:
If at any time you have concerns about your review process and need legal or employment advice, please contact advice@utfa.org.
Sincerely,
Susan J. Wagner
